INAUGURAL FUNCTION OF THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2011-12

The inaugural function of the college was held at the Rosary Parish Hall on the 11^th of July, 2011. The function commenced with the Holy Mass celebrated by the Parish priest of Our Lady of Rosary Church, Navelim, Rev. Leonardo Pegado.

Fr. Pegado focusing on the them of the day, “Thru’ our learning we will accept nature as a beautiful gift of our creator and learn to respect and love it, as we invoke
God’s blessing on the Academic Year 2011-12”, presented a beautiful imagery from the natural world, eulogizing nature and exhorting the college youth to preserve and conserve Mother Nature. The Principal, Rev. Dr. Simão R. Diniz, who concelebrated the Holy Mass, also expressed his concern over the destruction of the environment and made a clarion call to all present, to salvage, protect and perpetuate our hitherto fragile ecology. During the Mass the faculty and the newly elected Students’ Council members took a pledge and committed themselves to the Vision and Mission of the College.

The Holy Eucharist was followed by a variety entertainment programme. During the programme the meritorious students for the academic year 2010-2011 were also felicitated. A vote of thanks by the General Secretary Mr. Atul Prabhu brought the curtains down on the inaugural programme.

ANNUAL SOLO SINGING COMPETITION

The College organized its Annual Solo Singing Competition on 18^th July, 2011 in the Rosary Parish Hall, Navelim. The Competition included participants singing in three different categories: English, Konkani and Hindi.

The winners of the competition in the different categories are as follows:

English Category: First Place: Ms. Nezba Fortes (T.Y.B.Com)

Second Place: Mr. Sabino Dias (S.Y.B.Com)

Third Place: Ms Cristina Falleiro (T.Y.B.B.A.)

Konkani Category: First Place: Mr. Haston D’Silva (T.Y.B.C.A.)

Second Place: Mr.Lionel Fernandes (F.Y.B.Com)

Third Place: Ms. Peony Fernandes (F.Y.B.Com)

Hindi Category :First Place: Ms. Orenda Acacia Gonsalves (T.Y.B.Com) and Mr.

Roysten Gomes (M.Com II)

Second Place: Ms. Priyanka Pires (S.Y.B.Com)

Third Place: Tanya Tavares (T.Y.B.B.A.).
